Paul Quartey

Paul Quartey MB, ChB, FRCS (Edin.) Dip Pharm Med is from Ghana and an expert on health policy. He brings both private and public sector experience in the health and pharmaceutical industry to the idilmat capacity development network. His particular areas of expertise are procurement and supply chain management especially as it pertains to pharmaceuticals and medical supplies; corporate governance; health economics; outcomes research; project management and the development of research methods to improve the effectiveness of health care delivery in the developing world. He entered the global pharmaceutical industry in 1992 and served as Senior Director covering most of Western Europe; Central and Eastern Europe; the Middle East and Africa, Paul was involved in setting up multinational research trials; negotiations with governments and health authorities; mergers and acquisitions; communication strategies; working with advocacy groups in areas such as HIV/AIDs and hepatitis; procurement and logistics and health care budgets. Dr. Quartey qualified as a doctor in 1982. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons and holds the Diploma in Pharmaceutical Medicine from the British Association of Pharmaceutical Physicians.
