Anthony Acheampong
Anthony Acheampong is from Ghana and brings extensive experience on public policy and development economics to the idilmat capacity development network. He has both strong academic as well as practitioner credentials. Anthony is a seasoned Development Consultant/Trainer with over twenty years’ experience specializing in institutional capacity building and external aid procedures of the majors donors particularly the European Union, World Bank and the United Nations in various African, Caribbean and Pacific Countries. Anthony has provided Technical Assistance to the National Authorising Office (NAO) in various countries in the ACP region namely Solomon Island from 1998 to 2002, Sierra Leone from 2005 to 2008 and Belize from 2008 to 2010. The Technical assistance provided involved working in all phases of the project cycle i.e. programing resources from the National Indicative programmes of the respective countries to identification and formulation of priority projects, implementation and monitoring and evaluation.
As senior trainer with ITAD, Anthony was instrumental in the development of the European Commission’s Manual and Guideline on Project Cycle Management in 2004 and also delivered training courses to diverse range of stakeholders from Government Officials, Civil Society Organisation, Private sector organisations and EU civil servants Brussels, Ghana, Kenya, Papua New Guinea, Tanzania and Uganda Early in his career, Anthony worked as the Project Coordinator of the Africa European Community Association in UK, Anthony was selected for an internship Programme of the European Commission in Brussels within the Directorate General for Development.(DG8) from 1995 to 1996. Following on from the internship Anthony worked with various Development Agencies and Non Governmental Organisations in various Africa Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Countries focusing on EU Development Cooperation projects and programmes. As part of his current responsibilities Anthony serves as the team Leader with Human Dynamics for the European Commission’s training in Brussels and all Africa – Caribbean – Pacific (ACP) countries on Financial and Contractual procedures of the 10th EDF He has so far conducted training courses in the following countries (Malawi, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Belize, Fiji, Jamaica, Gambia, Tanzania, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Botswana, Swaziland, Namibia, Rwanda, Papua New Guinea)
Anthony holds an HND in Applied Biology at South Bank University in London, UK. a BSc. in Agricultural Botany and an MSc. In Tropical Agricultural Development (Economics and Planning) both at Reading University, UK
